2. Rhetorical Triangle - advertising


First, we must learn the different rhetorical devices and how they fit into arguments and commercials. A rhetorical triangle is used to help students visualize how these pieces work together.
Ethos: how the speaker comes across. Is he reputable? Do you trust the company?
Pathos: how the argument affects the audience's emotions. Are you gaining sympathy? Satisfaction?
Logos: how the argument uses facts and statistics to convince the audience. Is it statistically better?
Kairos/Exigence: what is going on that prompted this argument. Is there a contest? a new restaurant?
